One of the most famous landmarks within New York City, NY, is Times Square. It is the ideal, premier place for any business to market their products with the most premier advertisements.

Here there are hundreds of thousands of outdoor lights that are meant to be bright and capture the attention of those walking on the street below. One of the most celebrated nights of the year takes place in this stretch of street that has become a landmark, New Years Eve.

During the New Years Eve celebrations that are had in the area there are thousands of spectators who gather to watch a giant illuminated ball countdown to the new year. The ball is covered with hundreds of outdoor lights which are made to withstand the extreme cold, and then it is dropped slowly from the One Times Square building every year. The ball drop is one of the most Americanized ways to celebrate a holiday ever.

Aside from the yearly ball drop in Times Square it is also home to some of the largest retailers in the United States. Companies like Disney, Foot Locker, Coca-Cola, and Budweiser all have either stores in the area or advertisements dedicated to their products.

The area that is now Times Square is historically rich in that there are photos of the area dating back to nearly the mid 1800s where it was a residential area. However in 1904 the New York times moved their headquarters to one end of the square, and from then on it became a huge attraction for other retailers and corporations who want their names to become mainstays in America. If you have not had the opportunity to visit the Times Square on your trips to New York City, NY you are missing out. Plan a trip as soon as possible.
