Valances for windows add a special decorative element to any room in your home. There are many valance styles available in numerous styles and patterns.
The most popular valance styles are the balloon, swag, and scarf.
Balloon valances are puffy and vaguely look like fancy inflated balloons hanging downward from a curtain rod. These are commonly used in rooms with formal furnishings and decor. The balloon style is the perfect valance for windows in an elegant dining room.
Swag valances are also very common. Typically, these window valances come in three sections. The two side sections are longer while the center section is shorter. Swag valances are usually hung on a window with a set of draperies underneath. Many homes use swag valences for windows in the kitchen or bathroom.
The scarf valance is an elegant style made from a rectangular, long piece of sheer fabric that is usually lightweight. This valance is gracefully draped over the creativerod in creative ways. Scarf valances for window are generally long and touch the flooring. Since this style is versatile, the scarf can be adjusted to decrease or increase the light entering the room.
Among the many valances available for purchase, some are simple and inexpensive while others are designer and made with high-end fabrics and trims. Valances come in numerous sizes and styles so there should be a large selection to choose from. In addition, valances come in a variety of colors and patterns and there is sure to be one to match the coloring of your home decor. Valances may be purchased at many department stores, but a larger selection may be found online.
Valances add style, color, and a decorative accent to any room. They can also enhance any window or may be used to hide unsightly curtain rods or uneven window frames. Overall, they are great addition to any room.
