Sending out an invitation is one step, but your typical first notice for any special event is to send out an announcement.  These announcements will prepare everyone to soon be expecting a formal invitation to your special event.  For larger formal events, this will be how the invitation process should work, but for smaller events such as birthdays and holiday parties, the “announcement” can also serve as your “invitation.”  Either way, it is highly recommended you use save the date magnets in both of these cases.

It is best to use save the date magnets because they are easily highly personal and fun.  You can use photos to make it more personalized.  Depending on the size, you can add all the pertinent information that you need so they work as the actual invite.  Best of all, your guests will take those invites or save the dates and put them up on their fridge, thereby reminding them each time they visit the kitchen that your event is coming up.

All you need for your wedding save the date magnets is your date and the recommendation that your invitees save that date.  If you are not using your picture, you should also add your names.  There’s no reason you can’t come up with a funny saying either!  In regards to using your save the date magnet as the invitation for a birthday, anniversary or Christmas party, you will need to add the right information or your guests will be at a loss.

Be sure to add all pertinent information, such as the date, time, and location of the event.  The type of party is important, along with any special theme, such as a 50′s or disco theme.  The guest of honor’s name would be a good idea, too.  Notify everyone whether a gift will be expected and let them know if they will be fed.
