You’ve been perfecting your mixing style for years, you’ve built up your music collection, have passed out tons of mix CDs and got a really cool pair of DJ headphones. What else is there?
One often overlooked but essential item for an aspiring DJ is a business card. The great news is that the cost of full-color printing has plummeted, providing artists with a lot of options to get cool DJ business cards for little money. Let’s explore three main options.
The first option is to have a friend design something for you, using either Photoshop or Illustrator. Chances are one of your friends or fans is a designer and you might be able to talk them in to doing a design for you for free in exchange for passes to your next show. This is the best option because you can work with them to get a design that’s a perfect fit for your style.
If you don’t know any designers, or you’re simply pressed for time, the next main option is to design a card online. Most of the large print companies these days have card designing software that you can use on their website to build your own card, based on their templates. Many of the templates are pretty decent, incorporating DJ related themes where you can add your own text and contact details.
The third option is to search online for “free DJ business card templates”. You might find quite a few templates or interesting backgrounds to use for free. Often you can take these images and use them with a printer‘s online software, giving you even more customization options for your card.
You’ve worked hard to become a good DJ. Now is the time to promote yourself and there’s no better way to do it than with a cool business card. They’re cheap and easy to make, so there’s nothing stopping you from getting some today!
