Before considering a replacement laptop battery, you really need to take a look at whether you need to purchase a new laptop battery or whether you can get along just fine without one. Some people really don’t need for their laptops to be that portable.
If you are using your laptop indoors and near an electrical outlet, perhaps you could get by with just having your laptop plugged in during use instead of purchasing a new battery. For us personally, our laptop is a Dell and it’s over six years old. When we use it, the laptop is plugged in. The battery can last for a few minutes at best if we unplug it. While it might seem inconvenient for some, it works just fine for us. If we are using that laptop, it’s always indoors and near an electrical outlet so it doesn’t bother us if the battery doesn’t work well.
If you are looking at whether you should purchase an OEM or an aftermarket replacement laptop battery, you should consider how much you use the laptop first of all to define whether you need a new battery. If you are dead set on a new laptop battery, you should certainly consider the source. There have been mixed reviews on people purchasing laptop batteries off of ebay. If a store if offering an aftermarket laptop battery on ebay, I would be more inclined to believe you are purchasing a quality product. If the laptop battery is an aftermarket and the batter is coming from an individual with not much background or reviews regarding their laptop batteries, I would be less inclined to purchase the battery. In my opinion, I would look at buying an aftermarket battery from a store – online or local. At least in that instance, you have someone that you can more easily return the product if it doesn’t work out.
When purchasing a laptop battery or laptop, you may want to consider also purchasing accessories such as a car laptop charger or if you have a specific brand of laptop, Toshiba for instance, you may want to look at purchasing a Toshiba laptop charger.
