What Are Hurricane Candle Holders?
Hurricane candle holders are a type of glass bowl or dish that designed specifically to enhance the appearance of wide pillar candles. One of the issues with many banquets and events is that making a large number of centerpieces whether they be from flowers or candles can be very expensive.
Hurricane candle holders can make any pillar candle formal enough for weddings or parties while still remaining affordable and easy to set up. The most common types of hurricane holders are:
- Cylindrical – Basic hurricane candle holders have a simple cylindrical shape that is designed to be just a fraction of an inch larger than the candle inserted in them.
- Bulb – Bulb candle holders have a tall cylindrical shape with the exception that they scallop outwards at the center of the decoration adding even more character to the decor.
What Are Dripless Candles?
As an alternative to hurricane candle holders, purchasing a dripless candle can ensure that your candles burn clean, smoke and drip free. One of the biggest benefits of hurricane bowls is that the glass catches all wax drips making cleanup at the end of the night a breeze. Dripless candles allow you to have a more natural feel for your centerpieces, perhaps making a candle bouquet, while maintaining the integrity of the decoration.
Hurricane Bowls Vs. Dripless Candles
Deciding which route to take is a matter of personal preference, however most designers would agree the depth and character added to your centerpieces by hurricane candle holders make them worth the extra effort. Additionally, they are extremely versatile allowing you to get creative in ways like filling them with water and adding floating candles for pool parties or outdoor events. However, for a more natural, “naked” appearance dripless candles are sure to delight guests just as well.
